Hello, everyone! My name is Tiara Samosir. I’m a journalism student at Humber College. I come from Jakarta, Indonesia, where I spent 20 years of my life.
I’m a first-born. I have two sweet little sisters – although I don’t think they’re little at all, since I’m the tiniest, but they’re both so sweet. Maybe because I’m the first-born, my parents are a little bit overprotective of me. They always make sure I get everything I need and everything I want, and that’s a good thing. However, I’ve always been curious about living dangerously, living a life that makes my heart race.
Why I came to Canada
Curiosity is my main reason to study abroad. I could say that it is also the reason why I decided to move to Canada. It is a country my mom seems to love very much. She always says Canada has the greatest view, the people are nice, and the country itself is so organized. And it moved me because just like me, my mom isn’t easily impressed.
Another thing about me is that I’m a huge fan of words, thoughts, books, music, and films. Combine all of them, I like to write my thoughts on the books I read, the music I listen to, and the films I watch, but I focus more on film.
I want to be a film critic and journalism is the perfect way to do that. It’s a tough industry. I really hope I can be successful in that area.
My life in Canada
I guess it’s true what they say that it’s not about getting there; it’s about the journey on getting there that counts. I’m looking forward to getting my degree, but I’m LOVING the time I’m spending working towards it.
I just finished my first year at Humber College and I’ll be back for my second year in September. My first year was amazing, confusing, nerve-wracking, and stressful at the same time.
For the first time in my life, I live by myself, which means I have to cook, clean up my room, take the bus, go to work, and go to school by myself. I’m now an independent person and apparently, I’m the busiest I can be. I guess I can say that my life right now is a rollercoaster ride, but I love every second of it. I hope it keeps going amazingly and even if it doesn’t, I’ll learn a new lesson. Either way, I love my life.
Thank you for reading! I’m really excited to be writing on this blog. I’m looking forward to sharing my exciting story here. See you next time!
